Our Lady of Peace students in the Barracks School
Parish School Religion (PSR)
The Our Lady of Peace Parish School of Religion is an education program for Grades 1-8, which is offered to parish children who attend public school.
The goal of PSR is to reinforce the Catholic truths and faith that parents are teaching at home. The aim of the program is to familiarize children with the basic knowledge and beliefs of the catholic faith and instill catholic values in each student. PSR also prepares students for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion (2nd Grade), as well as Confirmation (7th and 8th Grade).
Classes follow the academic year and are held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each Sunday (following the 10:00 a.m. Mass).
Registration for PSR classes takes place in August of each year. The annual fee for PSR is $70 for one child, $110 for two children, or $165 for three or more children, unless other financial arrangements have been made with the Pastor. You must be a member of the parish to register your child for PSR. Please utilize the registration form located on the OLP web-site (above) or contact the parish office 614-263-8824.
Returning students and their family will be sent their registration by mail. Please complete and return the completed forms to the parish office prior to the first class.
Preschool Parish School of Religion, held during the 10:00 a.m. Mass, is for children 3-5 years of age. The cost is $30 per child with a $60 family cap. Please use the same registration form as PSR students which is available on this website (link top of this page).
All PSR families will receive a handbook which contains the policies and guidelines that each family needs to follow so that we can accomplish the goal of giving your child/children a quality religious education in a safe environment.
The handbook includes staff roster, calendar, and program policies such as arrival and dismissal procedures and codes of conduct for all PSR participants. Students are required to attend all classes unless they are sick or for other extraordinary reasons. They are also expected to come to one of the Masses every weekend, preferably with their family.
Students with special needs are welcomed and encouraged to participate in PSR. Any necessary accommodations will be handled on an individual basis.
Please contact Tracey Fortkamp, PSR Coordinator, at 614-246-0174 or tmfortkamp@gmail.com with any questions or concerns you may have about your child's participation in the program. We will make every effort to accommodate all students.
PSR students and their families will also participate in various service activities throughout the year---information on these projects will be provided during the school year.
