There are many details to keep in mind when planning a funeral. In the midst of grief, this can seem an overwhelming task. Our staff is here to help you lay your loved one to rest with dignity. On this page, you'll find many documents and guidelines that will help you understand the funeral planning process.
The funeral ministry is a volunteer group responsible for preparing and serving a funeral luncheon for the families of a deceased parishioner. This service is available to the families of parishioners at no charge. Donations and occasional fundraisers (bake sales, etc.) are held to raise funds to support this ministry.
The Our Lady of Peace Funeral Ministry provides for parishioners only and has a set menu. There are three phone trees to coordinate the donation of hot casseroles, cold casseroles, and desserts. Parishioners volunteer for one of the above, and names are rotated as luncheons progress throughout the year. There are also set-up, serve, and clean-up committees. Luncheons are served in the school café, and the limit for those being served is 125. If parishioners desire a catered lunch from outside the church the members of the Funeral Ministry do not help serve.
The funeral ministry offers an opportunity for family and friends to gather and share a meal together following the funeral of a loved one. The first organizational meeting, under the leadership of Ellen Voltolini, was held May 4, 2003, eventually leading to the first luncheon
August 14, 2003.
